Calling the ProfileProvider

Hello everybody,

Sorry about the 74 threads that already exist on the theme "Profile", of which I have to admit I only read seven, that covered different aspects of the question.

One of them sent me there, it is probably the nearest to my question that I read from those results.

I implemented a profile provider as explained there :

Implementing a Profile Provider

and on the link down the page "How to: Build and Run the Profile Provider Example" from which I translated the example from Access to SQL Server.

Then, I declared it in the web.config as explained there :

Inside the ASP.NET user profile mechanism.

When I create a break point in a page load, and from there type in the execution window

? Context.Profile.Username

I arrive in the code of my ProfileProvider, where I also put a break point. So, at least some of the aspects of the declaration are correct.

But, it appears that the ProfileProvider was initialized nowhere, and for that reason does not have any ConnectionString, nor ApplicationName.

I could try and read the web.config from there, but I am not sure this is the right way to do it.

Is the application supposed to contain code to initiate the ProfileProvider ? And of course, if yes, what and where ?
